I decided to keep this thread separate since the Mic / Audio issues thread is still relevant to most.
This is in regards to an issue I myself was having and took a few weeks for me to figure out. Apparently thousands of other halo players (console and PC) are still having this issue and I was asked by a 343 industries moderator to post it on reddit once I reached a #5 karma rating in their subreddit (they do not force changes on posts unfortunately).
So, long story short… If you have a specific player that you cannot hear, or talk with in game (using in-game voice) the issue could very well be related to the XBOX Game-Bar software, required to add friends in Halo chat (on PC and XBOX).
This is what happened:
We were having random issues with users mics or in game voice randomly not working. This is a common issue which is why the other mic/audio issues threads exist, however we were unable to fix this as the issue ONLY happened with myself, and @dragonslayer. After about an hour or 2 of testing, we were able to find the fix, so here it is.
FIX:
XBOX Party Chat was the culprit.
1. Open the XBOX Game bar (Win+G on PC).
2. Invite the specific player you are having issues with to the party via XBOX Game bar.
3. Open the party settings, and right click on each person (that is having the issue not hearing/or being able to talk to you) and make sure they are not muted or blocked.
